Small businesses have always had a tough time providing health insurance for their employees, as it is never really affordable for the business or the employees.
Health care issues is at the top of the agenda for many politicians and many new policies are coming into effect, but are they truly going to help small businesses.
Congress has now enacted the Affordable Care Act that will set into a law that all Americans will have to health insurance in place, or they will pay a penalty. What does this do to small businesses that cannot afford to offer health insurance to their employees? This new law will put the government of the US in the role of employee insurance, which may present more problems to small businesses across the nation.
One section of the law is an outline of the penalties as well as tax credits for employers. Of course, penalties will be for employers that do not provide health insurance and tax credits for those that do provide health insurance.
Small businesses under five years of operation often just cannot afford to offer health insurance whereas companies that have been around for years can offer health insurance options as they are now out of the red that often occurs when businesses first begin and usually into their first years of operation.
After the law in effect in 2014, many of these employees will be forced to have insurance plans offered by the government at least if the small business does not grow and be able to afford to provide health insurance.
All small businesses should not ignore the possibilities that can come with providing health insurance. The best way to actually learn if your company can provide health insurance for your employees is by comparing the costs. You may be surprised that giving your employees the opportunity to have health insurance through your company is a welcome addition that will ensure their families have the medical care needed.
It is not impossible for you business to provide health insurance. It only takes a few minutes to compare the costs. You can always work with your employees and the insurance company to ensure your employees has some type of health insurance so you will be compiling with the law and providing better health insurance at affordable rates. The health insurance you choose can be tailor made so your costs are not outrageous for your company or its employees.
