This is a very difficult question to answer as it really depends on your own savings and income. You should be able to pay the deductible without going hungry or taking everything out of savings. If you are so worried about paying the deductible that you almost walk on eggshells around the house afraid something will break or that a storm will tear off the roof, then your deductible is too high.
